Red Wing’s extensive and rich history does not go unnoticed. The Goodhue County History Center works hard to continuously inform the public through exciting programs and events countywide.
The society was created in 1869 and is the first county historical society in Minnesota. With the turn of the year, 2019 marks the sesquicentennial year for the organization.
The museum features permanent exhibits including an exhibit on the Sea Wing disaster on Lake Pepin, and a replica of an early schoolroom. The museum also features travelling exhibits that change monthly. You can even stop in for a history break during lunch hour for a presentation about a specific historical topic.
Visit the history center to gain insight on Red Wing’s rich history, see how your ancestors lived, and go back in time.
